What is a BaliYo?

Constructed from three pieces of close-tolerance polymer, the center body is a pressurized ball point pen pivoting between to two parallel arms. The positioning dynamics of the pivots allow you to swing and rotate the pen, changing its speed and force of gravity while flipping and twirling. Refined symmetry with even weight ratio (end-to-end and side-to-side) balances the pen through motion and force. With practice you can learn sophisticated moves, two-handed tricks, quick-flips, spins, aerials and how to manipulate combinations of these.

What does the BaliYo do?

The BaliYo is a toy that promotes ambidextrous hand/eye coordination and helps develop fine motor skills.

How big is the BaliYo?

The BaliYo is 4 1/4" long and weighs approximately 1 oz.

What ages is the BaliYo appropriate for?

While the BaliYo is fun for all ages, it does have a few small parts and is not for children 5 and under.

Are the tricks easy?

Basic tricks are easy to learn, and on this page you can find tutorials for various tricks. We encourage you to visit the BaliYo YouTube Channel to view tutorials from other BaliYo owners. You can also upload your own tutorials to share.

What colors are available?

The BaliYo is available in several color combinations. Please check our Products page for the most current listing.

How do you write with it?

To expose the pen, twist the tip in a clockwise direction. Then, in the closed position, place your forefinger and thumb just above the brass rings.

How well does it write?

The "YUS" BaliYo contains a Fisher® Space Pen® cartridge. Writes underwater, in freezing cold, boiling heat, at any angle, even upside down. The "YCN" BaliYo contains a standard ink cartridge.

What color is the ink?

The BaliYo you purchase will have a blue ink cartridge. Replacement cartridges are available. Other colors of ink will be available soon.

How do I change the ink cartridge in my BaliYo?

1. To change the ink cartridge, simply grip the tip of the pen and twist the ring in a clockwise direction until the tip can be pulled out.
2. Remove the old cartridge by twisting in a counter clockwise direction.
3. Insert a new cartridge into the tip and twist clockwise.
4. Insert the tip with a new cartridge back into the pen and twist the ring in a counter clockwise direction.

Where is the BaliYo made?

The "YUS" BaliYo is 100% U.S.A. made. The "YCN" BaliYo is manufactured in China.

What is the warranty?

If within one year from date of purchase, this product fails due to a defect in materials or workmanship, Spyderco Inc. will repair or replace it, at Spyderco Inc.'s option, free of charge, to the original purchaser. The warranty does not apply to: a) damage caused by accident, abuse, mishandling, throwing or dropping or other form of abuse; b) units subject to unauthorized repair, disassembly or alteration; or c) units not used in accordance with instructions provided with the product. This warranty service is available by returning the product and original receipt, postage prepaid to Spyderco, 820 Spyderco Way, Golden CO 80403. Some states do not allow limitations on how long an implied warranty may last, so this warranty may not apply to you. This warranty gives you specific legal rights and you may have other rights that vary from state to state.

I've lost the Clip(s) for my BaliYo. Are replacements available?
